Give a short history of the leader | During my first term of being a councilor,Gender Links facilitated me on gender equality and told me more about things I was not aware of.I could not believe or imagine myself standing in front of people and addressing them on gender equality but I huge courage to do so and I did made it . |
Objectives | I would like to work hard that people or community that I am leading should know deeper about gender equality, based knowledge be known to the whole community involving up growing children.I need a big change in infrastructure. |
Key activities | My work as a councilor is to attend some of the needs of people in the village,to make aware of the things that government needs to do such as improvements,policies and many more.Another thing is to connect the community with Governments. |
Key challenges | There are some challenges especially on men’s side,they think gender equality promotes women to be more better than women.Sometimes such challenges are discovered when there is something to be shared among the family members,when there is a women a share is marginalized. |
Results |

Change at the individual level | Being champion in gender gave me a courage to stand firm and vote for other ladies.I used not to trust women in leadership but now I have more potential and speak boldly on gender equality. |
Evidence of change at the individual level | People told me that I am changed and no longer the same person like before,they said my approach and affairs are very fair and this built a trust of people in me. |
Change at the household level | My family respect me so much on family matters because I do not take side.I have brought a knowledge to my two sons and understand gender equality,they are also changed the way they treat their wives. |

Change at a policy level | The matter of giving a full share in the family which is frequently referred to as heir,It is not considered legal. |

Capacity building | Gender Links improved the skills I have in leadership,they taught me how to become a gender champion.I also gave a support to other women and advised them to participate in their community. There is another woman who gave shoes to the needy and orphans in our village. |
Lessons learned and shared | I have learned that women have capacity to do many different things in life.Women can take a lead in different institutions. |
Next Steps | I will continue to teach young people about gender equality as part of my future plans,encourage my community to share things where necessarily and make changes in politics. |
