“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” – Dalai Lama

The best experience that Darga has had with Gender Links (GL) has been during the entrepreneurship training that she followed.  The training helped Darga to come out of the difficult situation she has been living and get to boost up herself by being surrounded by new friends and learning on how to be financially independent.

Darga explains that the journey she had had with GL has brought tremendous positive changes in her life and way of thinking. She believes that through the entrepreneurship course she has become a more confident young lady ready to face the challenges of life. She now knows how to act in situation of difficulties and is fully aware of her rights. The beneficiary equally adds that she had not realise that setting up a small enterprise for herself would lead to such inner peace. She now finds time to be more in her business instead of taking up unnecessary stress. Her small business helps her in overcoming the hardships of life.

As metionned above, when asked about the changes at the individual level, Darga was swift to add that the journey she had with GL gave her back the smile she had lost. By attending all the phases of the entrepreneurship training and being in constant contact with GL, she has experience positive changes within herself. Darga mentions that she would never miss the opportunity of attending GL trainings and is proud of the fact of being a participant at the GL Gender Summit 2015 in the emerging entrepreneurs category.

Darga explains that lately she has difficulty in coping with family members who were always giving her stress and adding up to her problems. She explains that the bad experiences that she had in the past was directly related to her relatives. Today, she knows how to manage her work and time. She does not pay attention to petty talks but would accordingly react when she knows that her rights are being baffled.

Within the family, Darga always try to establish peace and she always takes out time to talk to her son. She tries to eliminate the communication gap and give her son what is best for him by also giving him the space he needs. Darga adds that she would always preach the lesson of gender equality to his son. By trying to be a role model, she tries to inspire the younger generation in her family to eliminate the gender stereotypes. She also talks about same with her sister who is abroad.

She continuously encourages her friends and neighbours to be positive about life and take up challenges bravely. The course she followed with GL helped her boost up her self esteem and at the same time she is spreading the message to her community.

Darga engages a lot in societal activities and whenever she has a chance to talk to people about gender equality issues and positivity she would do so.

Anique Darga follows a course of cloth making, attends regular talks and get to meet people around religious gathering. She takes up this opportunity to share her message and this also acts as a healing therapy for her.

She wishes to expand her business in the coming years. She is eager to learn more and apply same in her business.  Anique also wishes to spread positivity in her surrounding and helping people victims of GBV to have a new thinking of life. She always gives support to friends in need and does not indent to stop this noble work.
