“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being.”
I started with Khuseleka in 2013 March . I became strong, accepted my situation, forgave those who have wronged me and after doing all those things I was at peace. Today I am progressing, I also teach my children to be independent. All this is because of Matlala VEP, Khuseleka and Gender Links.
I learned a lot of things from these trainings that can help me to survive. I have started attending this training at Matlala VEP in 2013 that is where I have learned that when you have problems you have to share them with other people. I started with Khuseleka in March 2013. I became strong, accepted my situation, forgave those who have wronged me and after doing all those things I was at peace. Today I am progressing, I also teach my children to be independent. All this is because of Matlala TVEP, Khuseleka and Gender Links.
TVEP ga Matlala and khuseleka changed my life because I have the confidence within my family to drive the business and they trust me to handle family issues and make decisions as they can see how I changed and they are helpful. I now know how to start a business from bottom up. I know how to write a business plan.
I decorate for events with my family and now my decorating business is growing. I know that after receiving money from my business I am able to buy stock and I save the remaining. I can now budget and make sure that I even save. I did not know I had a problem, I was accompanying a friend who had a problem but I have moved on and my son respect the decision to move on and he admire me for that. I feel proud. It is true a lot of women stay in an abuse relationship because they depend on their partners financially.
The community is seeing a huge difference in my life; they see me as an active woman the one who helps people when they need help. When there is a funeral in the community I go and help out and if the bereaved family is financially challenged I offer them my services (Decorating and Catering) for free.
The community is now respecting me because they know that I help families that are financially challenged. Today I am able to assist people who experience problems in their lives and also to refer them to police stations, Social Workers or other organisations that are relevant to their needs.
When I see children roaming around the streets not going to school, I guide them and tell them about the importance of education. I work part time at a Tuck shop in the community and when boys come to buy cigarettes I educate them about the dangers of smoking. They end up being appreciative of the advices I give them.
I have learned about the importance of entrepreneurship. I know how to run a business. I can take care of my business and won’t let it fall apart, like not to take money from the business and spend it on other things In 2030 I would like to be a millionaire. I would like to empower women who are going through the same problems as mine and more.
