An enriching testimony

My training at Gender Links is very memorable. I met new people. I learned how to do a business. I learnt how to set it up. I also learned the different steps to follow to start my business. This has also made me more independent. I am now able to do many things. I started my training in 2013. I attended all the three phases of the course. The training was very rich in knowledge. I got to know many things! This course has not only helped me understand how to do business. It has also helped me develop myself. It was not difficult for me to attend this course. I was provided with transport facilities to go there. I was even able to meet friends and go together. However, I have not yet started my business. Before starting this training, I was working at Chrysalide as a gardener. I am still working there. This course has helped me a lot in my life. I have never been a victim of violence. However, I was an alcoholic. It was very difficult for me! I always wanted to drink. Fortunately, I got help. I am now freed! I went to live in a Centre in order to stop drinking. This has been very useful. My husband is a drunkard. I still live with him. My family is very happy that I changed my life. It was not easy for them. I was drinking and neglecting my family. Now, my house has changed. I stopped drinking. Many women see me as living example. Women encourage me to continue living like this. I really like my job. I am also able to help people there. I do not want people to fall in the same trap. I help youngsters by guiding them and telling them to stop drinking. I know that the lessons learnt will help me one day. My dream is to have my work permit and sell home-made pickles. I want to do it on a part time basis. As my husband works as a mason, this will bring more revenue in the house. This will also help my children.
