I have been to a lot of training but this one was the first one I attended that dealt with gender and violence. So basically I went to the training not knowing what it was all about. But when I learned about gender and violence, it was life changing. It just came to me that I was undergoing so much injustice and I was not alone. There were so many more people who were going through similar problems as I. I haven’t been able to start a business yet but the knowledge I gained was precious. I just loved meeting all these women and those sharing sessions. Before I come to this training I never knew that there was equality between man and woman. I was in an abusive relationship where I always had to be submissive and accept whatever my ex-husband would say or do. I had reached a stage where I lost track of the notion of good or bad, right or wrong. All I knew was that whatever he said was good and right. Its like I was living in a world within the world. I knew nothing of what was happening outside. But soon enough I started to suffocate until one day I rid myself of that hellfire. My current husband is so supportive. I call him my angel. He saved me from all those atrocities and he always urges me to go out and learn. He always encourages me to work and do my own savings. I told him once of my dream to own a small farm. But we live in an area where it’s not possible to do such. He has promised me that one day we will have our own space and start that business. In a nutshell, I can say that one of the most valuable lessons I have learned from the course is that we should never give up. Whenever we feel down, we should go back to the reason why we started.
