“The success story of courageous women”. This training has been very useful. It helped me move forward in my life. I learnt a lot! When I attended the course, I learnt how to write. I was very happy. I always needed someone to help me. Then, I told myself, I should learn how to read and write. In 2014, I started my training. I was able to attend all the three phases. Though I was illiterate, I was very happy with this course. This training helped me in managing my business. I can now control my profit and loss. I can also keep record of my work. I simply liked everything! I faced some difficulties to attend this course. Sometimes my husband did not want to give me money. He used to taunt me. Even though, I was verbally abused, I persevered.
My husband told me I was losing my time. I knew this was not the case. I stood firm! Now, I can see the positive changes. Before this training, I was a housewife. Long ago, I worked on the road. There used to be a truck which threw unused pampers. I was illegally picking it up and selling it. Before this training, I also started a business of pickles. I noticed that the business was not working. I, then decided to start the course at Gender Links. After this training, I changed my business and started selling candied fruits. I make candied mangoes, olives and cucumber. It helped me achieve a lot in life. I was a victim of violence. I am still a victim of violence, but it has decreased. Now, people see me as a different person. I also appeared in the newspapers and T.V.
I helped a young man who was in a difficult situation. I was unaware that I appeared in the newspapers. It was some people who noticed my pictures and told me. Many women encourage me to continue my business. Many people really appreciate what I sell. I also developed new knowledge. I have now better manners. My clients appreciate me a lot! The lessons learnt were very helpful. I am more independent. I even started an alphabetization course. In the future, I will like to continue my business. My dream is to save my money. I want to do a voyage to Rodrigues. This will help me enjoy. I also want to go there in order to do business. I can also bring products from Rodrigues to Mauritius
