I am a single young lady and a grade 10 learner. I have a business operate as a salon in Windhoek. I do hair braiding, dying hair and providing advice’s to  my customers. I started running this type of business in 2012 while doing  grade 8.I am still in school and continues with the same idea and would want to continue with the business even after my secondary school. The salon profits is the only source of income and I had started for self-reliance. The money I  make helps me a lot especially when I don’t have money for transport to go to school. The business has changed my life a lot and I like it because it is profitable.

I have developed a database of potential customers whom I always consults if they need service on monthly basis. The database includes both young people and adults. I have a better understanding of the business environment since she grew up in Windhoek. After I have finished schooling I want to open other branches for my business in other towns. My wishes is to create employment for many Namibians and sustain myself. I had already carried out a market research and results showed that there are more customers to support the business. My marketing strategy include the use of sending smses and word of mouth advertisement.

I  was invited to the Gender Links workshops in the year 2014 and after attending the first workshop I knew that I will be gaining a lot of information. And I am grateful that i am one of those who attended Gender Links Entrepreneurship training. I am one of the luckiest young women because the training came at a right time while I an is still schooling because the training enriched me and I became knowledgeable. What makes me happy is the fact that I am capable of doing my own plans, budget and do proper marketing of my services. And in the near future will register my business. I operate my business alone and without equipment because I am doing it with my own hands but the customer need to buy some braids.
