A role model for many women
The course at Gender Links was very interesting. I learned how to set up a business. It helped me build my professionalism. I understood that it is important to market my products. I also learned how to make my business a successful one. I started my training in 2013. I was able to attend all the three phases. I really liked the concept of this training. I got access to technological devices in this course. This encouraged me and other women to acquaint myself with technology. I am a social worker at MAM. I am the coordinator in the South. This training helped me become stronger. I do not own any business. However, this training helped me share my knowledge with other women. I have been a victim of physical violence before. I am no longer a victim of violence. I decided to bring this change. I wanted my husband to stop this dominance. I can notice a change! We just celebrated our twenty fifth wedding anniversary. This positive change also affects my children. They are very happy. My brothers are also very proud of me. I can overcome difficulties by my positive mind-set. Thanks to the training provided at GL! There is surely a link between gender violence and economic empowerment. When a woman is a victim, it affects her everyday life. Her ways of doing things and seeing things is different. I meet many women. As a social worker, I empower and support women. I show my positivity. I also fight for what I want. Many people perceive me differently. This is the result of my testimony and story. The changes I brought surely affect policies. For example, I appeared in the newspapers. I went against the chairman of the District Council. The chairman thought women cannot talk in public. I am totally against it! I think women should voice out their opinion. I have met many women who are illiterate. I feel, I can help these women. If a woman wants to learn, I encourage her. One useful lesson learned is that I should fight obtain what I want. I have to be positive. I should also have an aim in life. In the future, I will like to join politics. I will like to see to work for women and make women enjoy life. In 2030, I will like to see women progressing. My message from Obama to all women is that “yes we can”. I believe I have the capacity to achieve a lot in my life.
