Justice and Women is a gender-justice organization based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, working to challenge and transform inequitable power relationships within the organization and outside in the community.
The Masibambane project’s immediate and intermediate aims are to increase SRHR awareness and actualization among girls and boys in rural KZN to reduce the prevalence of, and prevent, teenage pregnancy; to promote bodily autonomy and respect of self and others; and to empower parents to constructively engage their children around sexuality and reproductive health. Ultimate aims include increased gender equality and equity; improved educational performance; and improved livelihoods and poverty reduction. Contextually, the project aims to disrupt the cultural beliefs and practices that rural women have internalized about their sexual rights and reproductive health, which perpetuates their vulnerability .
