In the year 2000, The United Nations passed Resolution 1325 that seeks to address challenges that women and girls face in armed conflict. The resolution emphasises on armed conflict a thing which from the time it got passed to-date “rules-out” Southern African countries except Democratic Republic of Congo. However, countries in the region are faced with other conflicts like political unrests (e.g. Madagascar, Zimbabwe) which equally and negatively impact on women and girls.
Following this development, Gender Links will convene a seminar with its partners, the academia and individuals to discuss what the UN Resolution means to Sothern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries.
