Gender Links aims to bring citizens voices to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Ten Year Review Summit under the banner: Making every voice count – Citizens speak out on the MDGs as a follow up to Oxfam GB’s Beyond signatures campaign launched during the 54th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in March 2010.

Gender Links hopes to work with the Inter Press Service (IPS) aim to a) to produce a series of opinion pieces in the build up to and during the MDG Ten Year Review Summit (20-22 September 2010); b) Produce a two page supplement to a paper, Terraviva to be published and distributed by IPS during the New York MDG Summit   c) hold global online discussions and video conferences in collaboration with the World Bank during the event to bring the voices of women and men, and especially African women, to the MDG Summit; share news and debates with them.

The discussions will centre on the themes of the conference with a gender lens and will reflect in the supplement to Terraviva, being produced in hard copy and online during the Summit.   The themes for this year’s MDG Ten Year review are:

–       Building a better tomorrow: local actions, national strategies and global structures
–       Equal and inclusive partnerships: Accountability in the fight against poverty ,
–       Sustaining development and withstanding crises
–       From voice to policy: 1660 days left
