Daud Kayisi is a Malawian journalist and media intern currently working at Gender Links. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Malawi, Polytechnic. Since he started his career in 2009, he has always had an interest in media for development, girl child education and women’s rights in Africa. Kayisi believes that media is a powerful tool to help bring development to marginalised Africans; to empower women through realisation of their rights and to help African girls access and enjoy their right to education. He says his experience with GL so far has been fruitful as he has acquired numerous skills that are solidifying his knowledge for his career. The media intern hopes that the internship period at GL which does not solely focus on gender issues will positively affect his journalist knowledge, attitude and practice.
