Since its establishment in 1996 the East African Sub-regional Support Initiative for the advancement of women has remained committed to the advancement of women and girls in its eight member countries of the east African sub-region: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. The mandate remains the same – to monitor the implementation of the African Platform of Action emanating from the Dakar Conference of 1994. This is the report for 2012.
