50 years on: Raising the flag for women’s rights

50 years ago the national flag was raised symbolizing Uganda’s sovereignty as a nation. For women, the struggle to get Independence was only just beginning. Getting voice in the public space for economic, political, social and cultural issues impacting on them was an uphill task. Through the years amidst the various political changes, women continued to organize, mobile and network locally and globally.
