A study of selected Namibian Press Coverage of Gender based violence

This study is complied by Emily Brown and Paulina Shilongo for a workshop on covering gender-based violence held on the 18-22 February 2002 at the Polytechnic Namibia in Windhoek. Gender based violence remains one of the most under reported crimes. While the media is playing an increasingly important role in exposing gender based violence it has often been part of the problem through its use of inappropriate language and images.
