The Women’s Lobby (TWL) was formed to get women into politics. It served this objective during the constitutional negotiations in the early 90s and continued to pursue that aim through out its life. As this history indicates including women in political decision – making was and continues to be critical for the legitimacy of the political processes governing the country.
This book presents two histories. The longer one is that of WLSC, whose agenda encompassed a range of legal issues of 15 years. The shorter history of TWL extends over only a decade when the pace of change in the social order was quickening. The Women’s Lobby’s campaigning over one primary focus – raising awareness and action over the need to include women in politics.
