Since the wave of the new political and constitutional order in Southern Africa, the media has underrgone a metamorphosis, from mainly trumpeting government propaganda to becoming pluralistic and laying to the fore a multiplicity of ideas. The historical context was almost void of debate on gender but there have been some efforts in the past two decades to include gender as an integral agenda in media debates.
