Arise – A women’s development magazine: Endangered gender: Women and health

The theme of this issue is the endangered gender. There are many stories in the media about sexual and other forms of violence and most of these are about violence towards women and girls. What role does government, the community and even women themselves play in ensuring the protection of the female sex? Society continues to turn a blind eye to the overwhelming evidence that women and girls are in danger.

This issue contains articles on HIV and violence against women, alcohol in women, the dire state of Uganda’s maternal health and reproductive health rights.
