South Africa has 46% women in the House of Assembly and provincial legislatures and 50% women in cabinet. All the speakers in national and provincial legislatures are women. Women voters predominate. However, the goal of women leaders of political parties is elusive and only six of 48 political parties are led by women. There has also been a decline in women’s voices in the media.
