From the knowledge of successful media managers the second book of a series was composed which summarizes the results of the annual KAS-Media Leadership Conference. The manual has the title ÀžDoing digital media in Africa”. In a joint venture with the Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership KAS published this collection of different essays and analyses. It is dealing with the question how the Internet, mobile services, social networks and other digital media are influencing the work of African media houses and what management decision have to be made to turn this influence into a positive element of the media companies leadership. The different subject essays are the result of the 7th Media Leadership Conference, which took place in Kampala, from 25 – 28 May 2008. Out of a total of 13 countries the managers and editors in chief met to discuss current developments in the media sector. As in previous years, the conference did not just create network opportunities between media managers, but also an profound debate about ongoing challenges in the management area.
