Emang Basadi Political education project was initiated in the year 1993 in recognition of the under presentation of women in decision making structures, at both the national and local levels. This meant that women’s views and experiences were not represented when key decisions were made, even those which have direct impact on their lives. The absence of a critical mass of women at decision making levels was identified as the major reason for the existence of gender biased laws and policies as well as programmes which are not gender responsive.
