Some of Ethiopia’s diverse cultural and traditional practices are beneficial for the society as a whole, while others have negatively affected the livelihood and wellbeing of its population in general, and that of women and children in particular. The NCTPE has identified six such practices, which include female genital mutilation, as severe and widely practiced and this booklet focuses on those that can contribute to the spread of HIV and AIDS.
