IDS Bulletin: China and international development: Challenges and opportunities

As we move to a post 2015 agenda, the world has changed. Even 15 years ago development policy and finance were dominated by a flow of expertise and resources from OECD countries to low income ones in Africa and Asia. It is now more polycentric and multi-polar. The guiding ideas have changed to global partnerships and multi-way co-operation around economy and sustainability. Chinese development action is running ahead of our ability to analyse it. This IDS Bulletin offers a landmark in understanding China’s shifting roles and this emerging development era. There are articles on China and African development, China and international development and the impact of China on the donor landscape and South-South co-operation.
