Brief description of the item of work you submitted and motivation of why it is a good example of gender awareness and sensitivity in advancing gender equality Post-2015.

The work reflects inadequate availability of health services to rural Tanzanian pregnant women. Where in Nyamalango Street in mwanza region a street dispensary serves more than 5000 people within and outside the street. The thing that reflects the current WHO statistics that among the total of world’s pregnant women death 3% to 5% of them are from Tanzania making 454 deaths of pregnant women death in Tanzania out of the world’s 100,000 pregnant women deaths.

Why did you produce the story? What problem or context is it responding to?

After a 16 years pregnant girl got no delivery services and gave birth near the dispensary main gate as it was closed, later on the girl got an aid from a traditional mid wife

The government to improve the streets’ dispensary to manage the number of people in need

The target audience is the local government authority, and with the impact of the story the street chairman sent a request to the higher authorities to raise the status of the dispensary and build the servants houses so as to serve for 24 hours

How did you gather the data, how many sources, female and male did you consult? Why did you choose these sources and how were their voices important?

I contacted all the possible sources of the story

Three female since they are the most suffering group due to the situation

Two male (a girl’s husband and a street chairperson)

What impact did it have? What evidence do you have to illustrate impact?

The street chairperson sent a request to the higher authorities to raise the status of the dispensary and build the servants houses to serve for 24 hours.

I am currently contacting with the street authorities to know where have they reach in the strategies .and the developing story is in process.
