The Stigma-AIDS eForum was first established in 2001 as part of a larger project on stigma and HIV/ AIDS. The purpose of the eForum was to provide a space for interested people and communities to share their views and experiences, collectively moving towards a better and shared understanding of HIV/ AIDS-related stigma, as well as learning about practical approaches to reduce it. This document provides a brief overview of the discussions and sets out a definitive position with specific recommendations about how, based on the evidence of the eForum, HIV stigma can be tackled. This report adds richness and vitality, for it is derived from a range of experts, commentators and people living with HIV/ AIDS, and hopefully enables fresh insights into what is proving to be the most intractable feature of the HIV epidemic. All statements and proposals are derived directly from the discussions.
