The National Implementation Plan for the Service Charter for Victims of Crime represents government’s commitment to the realisation of the rights of victims. It was drafted by a committed team of Interdepartmental Committee members representing the departments of Justice and Constitutional Development, Social Development, Health, and Correctional Services, the national Prosecuting Authority and the South African Police Service. The national Implementation Plan (NIP) is a blueprint according to which government departments will provide services and interventions in an attempt to make abstract rights a living testament to the country’s Constitution, 1996 (Act No 108 of 1996).
