The Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing, China, 4-15 September 1995, represents a new watershed in the movement for securing equality, development and peace for all women everywhere in the world. With the unanimous adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action by representatives from 189 countries, it gave the world a new comprehensive plan of action to enhance the social, economic and political empowerment of women. This edition contains the complete text of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
