Regional Strategy and Framework of Action for Addressing Gender Based Violence 2018 – 2030

Peace and security have always been central to SADC’s regional integration strategy. In spite of this gender -based violence (GBV) continues to be a threat to human security, peace and development. In light of this Ministers responsible for gender resolved that the Secretariat should facilitate the development of a strategy for addressing gender-based violence.

The development of this Regional Strategy for addressing GBV will facilitate the implementation and monitoring of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development, Part 6 on GBV, Articles 20 – 25, in line with reducing the incidence of GBV by half by 2030.
