Reproductive and mental health issues of women and girls under situations of war and conflict in Africa

Proceedings of an experts group consultation in Nairobi, Kenya 4-5 August 1994 sponsored by UNIFEM’s African Women in Crisis Umbrella Programme (AFWIC) and UNICEF ESARO.displaced and refugee women in situations of war and conflict have special needs for gynecological and maternal health care and mental health counselling to address the effects of sexual abuse, pregnancy complications, poor sanitation and loss of community support.

It includes papers on the reproductive and mental health needs of displaced women in Rwanda, psycho-social assistance to women victims in Burundi and case studies of reproductive and mental health issues for women in conflict in Southern Sudan and for refugee women in Somalia and Ghana and displaced women in Kenya.
