The Government of Botswana ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1994 as it recognises the importance of taking action to mitigate climate change impacts. Although Botswana is a minor emitter of greenhouse gases the country is negatively impacted by climate change. Water is a scarce commodity in Botswana and the situation will be aggravated by climate change. Tourism, health, energy and agriculture are also impacted. This is the second assessment of Botswana’s situation with regard to responses to climate change. This document serves as a tool upon which to base decisions concerning climate change and future national development.
