Thousands of Zimbabwean women continue to suffer at the hands of their trusted spouses, while communities and state institutions turn a deaf ear to their plight. The alarming increase of reported cases highlight the silent cries of abused women in our society who go unheard because of patriarchal beliefs, the economic dependence of women and state apparatus who deliberately ignore the cries. Gladys Ndau’s story reveals the difficulties faced by women in their marital homes.
