Founded in 1928 the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) is an intrenational NGO operating throughout the world for the cause of socail welfare, social justice and social development. To achieve its mission, ICSW advocates policies and programmes which strike an appropriate balance between social and economic goals and which respect cultural diversity. ICSW carries out its activities within the following main programme areas: policy development; dissemination of information; supporting the work of its membership; and international programming.
