Gender violence causes harm to society and the state. This study presents the socio-economic costs of violence against women within the family and the society, with the aim of documenting the process of calculating those socio-economic costs of violence against women in Mozambique, producing recommendations that should be taken into account when planning, budgeting and implementing actions to combat violence against women.
The costs of violence against women are presented in terms of social aspects as well as from an economic point of view. 81% of the economic costs are absorbed by the health sector and justice absobs 17%, the other costs are the associations working in the area of prevention.
