This document presents the stakeholders’ proposals for the Right to Information Bill, 2007. These proposals are a result of the stakeholders’ participatory process that lasted for eight months beginning late 2006. The participatory process was sparked off by the government’s "Draft Freedom of Information Bill,2006". The government’s Draft Bill sparked a major public outcry because it was seen by many to restrict the right to information. The process was stalled, and it was ultimately agreed by both the government and the stakeholders that the latter should prepare proposals on the right information. this publication is the result. It is meant to inform government and the public debate, and to ensure the people of Tanzania enjoy their basic democratic rights and freedoms.
