The implementation of quotas: African experiences

This report comes from a workshop held in South Africa in November 2003. IDEA convened a number of regional workshops where researchers and practitioners were brought together to allow country and region specific information on quota implementation and enforcement to be collated Themes in this workshop included comparative experiences of quotas, how to lobby for and implement quotas, the challenges to implementation and enforcement, and political party quotas. IDEA is the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance based in Sweden and is an inter-governmental organization with member states accross all continents
