This Guidebook of questions and answers aims to promote media self-regulation, boost the quality of journalism and help improve the overall situation of media freedom in the OSCE area. Self-regulation and the promotion of quality journalism are additional safeguards of media freedom and even of media power. This guidebook aims to offer information journalists, editors, publishers, and media students, as well as to government officials. Each chapter highlights particular aspects of media self-regulation, including the role of codes of ethics and various accountability mechanisms, such as ombudspersons and press councils. It is hoped that the guidebook will encourage the further development of media self regulation. There are versions available in English, Albanian, French, Hungarian, Russian, Turkish and Montenegrin
