Who’s News? Women and the media

How do women feel about the way they are portrayed in the South African media at the very end of the 20th century? In this video young women, community workers, lesbian activists, academics, politicians, sex workers and women with disabilities speak about their concerns. We touch on violence against women. A young survivor of rape talks about the impact on her life of sensational reporting of her case. Survivors of domestic violence share stories of how they left abusive relationships after reading sympathetic articles on the issue.
