The most promising journalism education institutions in Africa are supported by UNESCO to become Centres of Excellence in journalism education. UNESCO contributes towards the strengthening of the capacities of these centers to offer high quality journalism education programs for aspiring and working journalists. Moreover, UNESCO supports the institutions in engaging with civil society in the development of free, independent and pluralistic media.
