This paper provides an overview of how women can use information and communication tools to improve their lives and provide an alternative outlet for expression. Cellphones have been identified as the most popular technological tool to help open doors for women to either access information or voice their views. ICT trends such as social networking, mobile phone services and digital story-telling have given women a platform to express themselves while also receiving information on relevant issues. However, opportunities created by ICTs also come with challenges, including access, affordability and availability.
