The research investigates to what extent women, children (under16), the elderly and people with disabilities have access to and are represented in media in SouthAfrica. Quantitative and qualitative methos were used to investigate if these diadvantaged groups needs are met, if their issues appear in the media, and to what extent individuals from these communities make news for these communities. The study reveal that disadvantaged groups are under represented.
