As the 2010 World Cup in South Africa draws closer, countries in Africa, including Malawi, are working to involve more females in sport, including bringing in female referees in men’s football. However, the going has always been tough for female referees, and they continue to face various forms of discrimination while officiating such games, including verbal and physical abuse.
