All kinds of images constantly bombard people. It is evident that
media portrays men and women differently and this affects
perceptions among viewers and consumers. This paper seeks to
see how magazine advertisements and the internet portray men
and women. For the purpose of this paper, I have taken examples
from the African Business Magazine published in May 2008 and
used the Google Search Engine on the internet. After examining
the images from the two sources, I found that men are usually
portrayed as strong, virile, educated and healthy while a woman
is presented as sexy, weak and as a passive person.
