The current study takes an ecological approach to the issue of how the Internet is incorporated into existing communication environment. The relationship between the Internet and traditional media is explored in contexts of four ethnic communities À“ Whites, African Americans, Latinos and Asians. The findings indicate that the relationship between the Internet and traditional media in individuals’ lives varies by media type and ethnic groups. It is also found that using the Internet at home, work, schools, public sites, or commercial sties have different implications in different ethnic groups with regards to what kinds of relationship the Internet has with other traditional media.
