The role of community media in fostering the inclusion of the rural voice in national debate

This article looks at the role of community media in rural Zambia. It is noted that while for many years rural Zambians were cut off from the decision-making structures in larger centres, community media has given many rural citizens a voice for the first time. With the advent of local radio stations, rural Zambians are able to access information that allows them to hold their leaders to account.
