The writer outlines her concerns over the manner in which Miller in “Towards a New Psychology of Women” excludes through inclusion, her narrow model of the self which leads to a narrow politics based on the heterosexual relationship with the nuclear family as backdrop, and her naivety around the temporary nature of some inequalities. Despite some usefulness in her analysis of Àžpermanent inequalityÀŸ, her privileging of the axis of gender leaves the complexities of race, class, and location completely untheorised.
