Nkayi Rural District Council is one of the sixty (60) rural district councils in Zimbabwe located to the North-East of Matabeleland North province. Nkayi RDC comprises of thirty (30) administrative wards, 156 villages, 1 growth point and five chiefs presiding over the area. The population survives mainly on agri-business. Livestock-rearing constitutes 70% of the district’s economic activities. 

Nkayi works with multiple stakeholders and traditional leaders. The council is conducting numerous awareness campaigns on ending early child marriages and gender based violence in the district. Read more about the council here.

Nkayi Rural District Council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming in local government. The council is mentored by Umguza RDC.
