The City Council of Port Louis, formerly known as the Municipal Council of Port Louis, was set up in 1850 by ordinance No. 16 which was passed by the Council of Government on 27th December 1849, coming into force on 1st January 1850. Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius. It is the largest city of the country and main port, which borders the Indian Ocean. The Council has not participated in the Summit and done any entrepreneurship work.
