International Women’s Day (IWD) is an annual event used to reflect on progress made on achieving gender equality, to make strong calls for change and celebrate selfless acts of courage and brevity by ordinary women changing the world one day at a time.

The United Nations’ (UN) adopted theme for IWD 2017 is #BeBoldForChange. This strong theme comes at a time when women across the world are organising for change from the community level up to the global level demanding swift action on fighting gender inequality. Early this year on January 21 over a million and a half women from across the globe held solidarity marches with Women’s March Washington to protest against the rising attacks on the rights of women and minority groups with a special focus on inclusion, equality and diversity.
