I did primary and secondary education in Kadoma. I did not do well at school because of bad company. My mother felt that I had to repeat my secondary school final year. At first I was very serious with my school work but after a few months I got friends with bad company again. Most of my final year teachers tried to make me realise that I was blowing away my chances of succeeding but I ignored their advice. I even tried as much as I could to avoid those teachers likening them to jealousy people. To male teachers I even thought that they wanted to be intimate with me. I even reported one male teacher to the deputy headmaster who cautioned him against improper association with students. I really regret my actions.

My female friends teased me about not having a boyfriend who could spoil me with some niceties during break times and even after school. They would invite me to their boyfriends’ places and I would feel lonely because they will be al in pairs with their boyfriends. I finally fell in love with a young man, Givemore*, whom I was introduced to by one of the girls. I would lie to my mother that I was at school yet I would have absconded school to spent time with my lover. I was so protective that I often accused him of having other girlfriends. I always doubted if he was mine alone. My actions led to the loss of my virginity at his rented place. That first time led to regular sessions of protected and unprotected sex. I finally fell pregnant and dropped out of school. None of my friends was in the same situation as mine.

Givemore* paid bride price to my parents and we started living as husband and wife. My insecurity towards Givemore* being snatched away from me increased. He continued his association with his boyhood friends though I despised it. At one time he was caught red handed pants down with one of my former high school friends. When I finally gave birth to a baby boy I thought it would make my marriage secure. When I asked him why he had done such a shameful act, he beat me up for poking my nose in his affairs. He then threw my belongings out of our rented place telling me to go to my parents place. He insulted both parents for having raised a mischief of a lady like me. It was raining and I had to seek refuge at our neighbours place. I to apologise to him the following morning but he only said that it was over between us. He got into the house and threw out my few remaining item, locked the door then left for his workplace. I had to call my parents and they came to fetch me and my belongings.

I later made a report at the nearest police station and he was arrested for assault. I went to the hospital for a medical check up. The medical report was produced in court and he was given a hefty fine. I then applied for our child’s upkeep money which was granted by the magistrate’s court. My parents then assisted me with start up capital for my buying and selling business of second hand clothes from neighbouring countries.
