Please join Gender Links and the Gender Protocol Alliance partners for a cyber dialogue on Menstrual health.  Girls face several challenges relating to menstrual health: missing school; inadequate water and sanitation and schools; and the high costs of sanitary ware. The Gender Protocol Alliance under the banner #VoiceandChoice is rolling out menstrual health campaigns in Angola, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Alliance partners will share their experience of what has worked in the countries and what we should be prioritised across SADC. The details are:
Day: Monday
Date: 20 May 2019
Time: 12h00 – 13h30

We will be discussing the following questions:
1. What are the key challenges facing young women in relation to menstruation in your country?
2. What strategies have been used to address the high cost of sanitary ware? Are countries that have removed VAT implementing the policy? Has it resulted in an increase in the uptake of sanitary ware?
3. How many countries offer free sanitary ware? Are these being accessed?
4. What is the extent of coverage of water and sanitation in the schools in your country? How does it school attendance?
5. Is menstrual health included comprehensive sexuality education?
6. What kinds of policies should we be lobbying and advocating for on menstrual health?
7. What strategies can we use to improve the menstrual health situation in your country and the region?
